The Board of Ethics is a five member board appointed by the Town Board to three year terms, the Board of Ethics renders advisory opinions on specific situations or when requested, on the conduct of an official or employee, in accordance with the provisions of the adopted Code of Ethics.

Mission Statement

As members of the Yorktown Board of Ethics, we are committed to providing performance and counsel of the highest quality in keeping with the Ethics Code of the Town of Yorktown.

We pledge to treat all persons in an evenhanded, respectful and courteous manner.

We dedicate our efforts to earning the respect, trust, and confidence of the public and Town officials by acting with integrity, nonpartisanship, and confidentiality.

Our pledge is to conform to applicable laws, regulations and the highest professional standards.

The Ethics Board members are committed to making decisions that will be guided by ethical principles.

Ethics Training for Board Members

An Ethics Training DVD is available for review on a loan basis.  The DVD is a recording of the training seminar presented at Town Hall, by renown ethics expert attorney, Steven Leventhal.  

Board members and residents who are interested in viewing the DVD should contact the Town Clerk.

Annual Disclosure Forms

Each year Annual Disclosure Statement’s are distributed to all elected officials, heads of boards, town officials or employees holding policy-making positions, as well as those appointed board members that are indicated in Chapter 45 of the Code of the Town of Yorktown, Code of Ethics.

As per this Code’s requirements, the Disclosure Statements should be completed and returned to the Town Clerk’s office by May 15th.
