Vision (what we aspire to be)
- We will be recognized as community leaders in preserving and protecting Yorktown's rich, diverse historic resources that reflect our social, economic, political, educational and architectural heritage
- We will work hard to collaborate with Yorktown residents and the development community to identify practical, reasonable and cost effective solutions to preservation challenges
- We will educate our community and create a shared understanding of Yorktown’s unique cultural identity and to enhance Yorktown's attractiveness to visitors
- We will strive to foster civic beauty and pride in our community, and to strengthen our local economy through community outreach and heritage tourism programs
Mission (what we do)
- We identify potential buildings, structures, sites and districts of historical distinction
- We research and authenticate the history of preservation candidates
- We preserve or save Yorktown's historic structures through signage programs or adaptive reuse, green design and/or repurposed collaborative solutions
- We fund raise through civic groups, festivals, private donors and grants, to pursue our historic preservation efforts
- We educate and build community awareness of our robust historic legacy through public outreach programs and proactive media coverage
