November 4th COVID Update
From the desk of Supervisor Matt Slater:
Today's report from the Department of Health showed 10 new cases in Yorktown bringing our active caseload to 37. As a reminder, the data is roughly 48-72 hours behind meaning the 10 new cases could reflect weekend tests.
Cases continue to rise both in Westchester County and the Mid-Hudson Region. The daily increase in cases for Westchester County now equals that of mid-May and our latest infection rate is hovering at 2.5%.
These statistics are not meant to scare but reinforce the importance of the same measures that were implemented to flatten the curve: mask wearing, social distancing and hand washing. With more indoor activities taking place due to the colder weather these actions are critical for everyone's protection.
Yesterday I visited many polling places across Town and was very pleased with the mask compliance that I observed. This was a terrific sign of respect for each other and our poll workers who did a great job ensuring a smooth voting experience.
Stay safe. Wear a mask.
