Yorktown Water District
The Yorktown Consolidated Water District (YWD) currently services approximately 10,000 water accounts. Our major water sources are the Amawalk Reservoir, located in the Town of Somers, and the Catskill Aqueduct in the Town of Cordlandt Manor. Prior to distribution, the water is treated at the Amawalk and Catskill Water Treatment Plants. To comply with the State and Federal regulations, the YWD issues an Annual Drinking Water Quality Report describing the quality of its drinking water and to raise understanding of the drinking water and awareness of the need to protect its resources.
The YWD tests the water daily. In addition to maintaining the distribution and supply system, the department installs and reads meters, repairs water main breaks, installs new pipes, and maintains the infrastructure.
The Town of Yorktown is part of the Northern Westchester Joint Water Works (NWJWW) which is a collaboration between the Towns of Yorktown, Somers, and Corlandt and the Montrose Improvement District. NWJWW is responsible for operating the Amawalk and Catskill water treatment plants and provides billing services. For any billing questions please contact NWJWW directly at 914-788-3400.
