Textile Recovery Program

When it’s time to discard all types of clothing, coats, hats, socks, shoes, sneakers, boots, hats, gloves, rags, towels, sheets, blankets, bedspreads, tablecloths or curtains, don’t trash them -- RECYCLE!

Easy ways to keep unwanted clothing and textiles out of the trash:

1. Pack unwanted clothing and textiles in plastic bags labeled "Textiles."  Place at curbside for pre-scheduled Bulk Trash Collection (bags will be picked up in a small Refuse & Recycling vehicle for the Town’s vendor to process).

   Note: Clear plastic bags for packing textiles are available at the Refuse & Recycling Office
    

2. On the following 2026 dates, bring plastic bags packed with unwanted clothing and textiles to Drop-Off Days for E-Waste, Paint, Textiles and Car Tires located in front of the Police Station

   Event Time: 7:30 AM – 2:30 PM

   Friday, February 20 (**Weather Permitting**)   
   Saturday, April 25
   Wednesday, June 17  
   Friday, September 18
   Wednesday, October 14
   Saturday, November 21
    

3. Drop-off unwanted clothing and textiles in the authorized green & white USAgain Clothing Bins at the following locations:
   • Commuter Parking Lot next to Town Hall, 363 Underhill Avenue
   • Albert A. Capellini Community & Cultural Center, parking lot by the playground, Veterans Road
   • Sparkle Lake ‘”Service Building,” 176 Granite Springs Road
   • Shrub Oak Memorial Park parking lot, Sunnyside Street
   • J.C. Hart Library, 1130 E Main Street, Shrub Oak, NY 10588
