Public Service Annoucement Regarding Water Line Insurance Offer

Several Town Departments have been receiving telephone calls from residents inquiring about a mailing that was received offering water line insurance protection for a fee.  This advertisement is not a hoax. 

Please be aware that the Water Department is responsible for repairing water line leaks and valves originating from the street up to the homeowner’s property line.  Any leak beyond the property line is the responsibility of the homeowner to repair.  The Water Department staff does not work on private property. 

Insurance companies are offering to homeowners this water line insurance protection program.

The Water Department is not stating whether a homeowner should or should not purchase this protection.  It is the choice of the homeowner.
