Water Bill Phone Scam Alert
Northern Westchester Joint Waterworks (NWJWW) and the Town of Yorktown Water Department would like to warn Yorktown Consolidated Water District customers about callers who say they represent the "Department of Water" stating the customer has a large balance due and that if not paid, their water service will immediately be shut off. The caller then gives instructions to purchase a Wal-Mart card loaded with the delinquent dollar amount to avoid having their water shut-off.
Please be advised, NWJWW will not call a customer for payment. All contact is done through written correspondence in accordance with Town Code. In addition, NWJWW will never ask a customer to purchase a debit card or gift card to make a payment. If customers have any questions or concerns about their bill, they should call NWJWW at 914-788-3400.
If you receive a call, please contact the Yorktown Police Department at 914-962-4141.
