Dance-A-Thon to Benefit Support Connection
On Sat., Feb. 28, from 5pm to 10pm, Solaris Sports Club in Yorktown Heights, NY will host a Dance-A-Thon to benefit Support Connection, a not-for-profit organization that provides free support services to people affected by breast and ovarian cancer.
This Dance-A-Thon is being organized by two Yorktown High School students, Jenna Gammer and Sreeya Sai, as a part of their civic internship with Support Connection. Through their civic internship, Jenna and Sreeya have been learning the chief skills for event planning from their Support Connection mentors, Executive Director Katherine Quinn, and Administrative & Business Coordinator Christine Katt. Ms. Quinn says “We are so grateful to our young interns for engaging the community in this healthy, fun-filled evening. Everyone at Support Connection is very excited to see the Dance-A-Thon come to fruition at the end of February.”
At this family friendly event, people of all ages will enjoy dancing through the decades while having the chance to win a variety of prizes. Music will be provided by Bobby Barden (DJ Bobby B), a Yorktown High School Student. Food will be available. Jenna and Sreeya say “We believe that the Dance-A-Thon is the perfect way to unite our community while raising funds for Support Connection’s free breast and ovarian cancer support services.”
Preregistration is encouraged for dancers and spectators. Cost of admission is a $10 donation, with a reduced donation of $5 for children under 10. To register, visit http://scdanceathon.bpt.me/. For more information, contact Christine Katt at [email protected] or call 914- 962-6402.
