Yorktown Job Fair is November 30
The Town of Yorktown and the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce will hold a job fair for employers and jobseekers on November 30.
The five-hour event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Albert A. Capellini Community Culture Center, 1974 Commerce St., Yorktown. The job fair will give local businesses and job seekers an opportunity to meet face-to-face. Another goal is to help alleviate a local worker shortage.
“The success of our September job fair highlighted the great need that both job seekers and employers have for connecting with each other,” said Councilman and Chamber Board member Ed Lachterman. “We were thrilled to play a role in helping our local businesses identify skilled workers.”
The job fair will be set up in the gym of the Albert A Capellini Center, also known as the old 6th grade school. There will be areas set up for businesses to conduct onsite interviews as well.
“We continue to see local news reports about workers shortages. This week we’re reading about a scarcity of childcare workers. Last week the news was about a lack of truck drivers,” said Chamber of Commerce President Sergio Esposito. “The Chamber is committed to organizing these job fairs to help our local employers overcome these labor shortages that are inflicting real damage to our local economy.”
The Job Fair is open to any business that would like to attend, and applications can be found at the Chamber website: YorktownChamber.org. For those seeking employment, no registration is necessary.
