Yorktown Repair Cafe

Our handy Yorktown Repair Cafe volunteers will again attempt to fix your broken items at the Yorktown Repair Cafe at Grace Lutheran Church, corner of Curry and Gomer Streets, on Saturday, January 18 between 11AM-3PM.  This free community service event occurs quarterly and provides an alternative to our throw-away culture by providing repair options, at no cost (unless replacement parts are required).  Lamps, small appliances, bikes, clocks, textiles, toys, wooden items, ceramics, crockery, jewelry, computers / electronics / help with technology ... anything that is broken is welcome.

We suggest that people wishing to bring their beloved but broken items from home (limit 2 items please, no gas-powered items) pre-register via Sign-Up Genius to select a time to attend. This will help ensure that we don't have a crowd of people waiting to be served.

By promoting repairs, we can help reduce waste that otherwise ends up in the landfill or incinerator. Repair Cafe is also meant to put neighbors in touch with each other.  And to discover that a lot of generosity, know-how and practical skills can be found close to home.
