Engineering and Sewer Department

The office of the Town Engineer provides civil engineering, sanitary engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, inspection, surveying services, as well as Environmental Code Services to the Town.

The Town operates one trickling filter sewage plant with a capacity of 1.5 million gallons per day. The Town Engineer functions as the Superintendent of this plant and indirectly supervises approximately 6 men who maintain this plant along with 14 pumping stations. Within the Sewer Department there is a Sewer Maintenance Division comprised of 2 men. These two men maintain approximately 76 miles of sewer leading to either the Yorktown or Peekskill sanitary sewer facilities.

The consulting services provided by the department consist of the following:

  1. Review all site plans for the Town Board
  2. Review all parking plans for the Planning Board
  3. Review all subdivisions for the Planning Board
  4. Supervise the construction of all public improvements incorporated in the subdivisions, site plans and parking plans.
  5. Review the "as constructed" improvements on site and parking plans and making recommendations to the Building Inspector for granting of Certificates of Occupancy.
  6. Perform engineering and review services for Community Development Act Programs, Urban Renewal Programs, and Urban County Programs.
  7. Prepare engineering plans and specifications for bid on most of the public works projects in the Town.
  8. Supervise the construction of the aforementioned public works projects.
  9. Make recommendations to the Town for Capital Improvement Projects.
  10. Provide engineering expertise to other departments in the Town.
