BridgeNY Projects - Hill Blvd & Veterans Rd

The Town was awarded two (2) grants by the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) under the Bridge NY Program as detailed below: 

1. A grant up to $820,000 was awarded for the Veterans Road Culvert Replacement over the Hallocks Mill Brook and is 100 percent reimbursable by NYSDOT.
2. A grant up to $2,600,000 for the Hill Boulevard Bridge Replacement over the Tributary to Barger Brook and is 95 percent reimbursable by NYSDOT. 

As part of this project, the Town retained the services of WSP USA for engineering services, right-of-way acquisition and construction inspection of the two projects. During the design phase of work, the Town elected to combine both of the projects into one (1) set of bid documents.

After review of submitted bids with WSP, the Town Board awarded a contract to the low bidder, Transit Construction Corp. The total contract price is $2,995,000.

VETERANS RD: CLOSED VETERANS ROAD on January 4th in Yorktown, Heights (at Greenwood).

1. Road Closure Duration is 3 Months. Motorists to Follow Posted Detour Route
2. Constructed Stream Diversion System Across Veterans Rd
3. Completed Excavation and Removed Existing Culvert Structure
4. Completed Installation of New Precast Concrete Culvert Structure
5. Began Installation of Water Main Below New Culvert

PROJECT ISSUES & MILESTONES:

• Awaiting APPROVAL from Westchester County Health Dept for Hill Blvd Utility Relocations - Watermain and Sewer Mains
• Approved Additional Water Main Cost Estimate for Veterans Rd & Hill Blvd

1. Complete Installation of Water Main
2. Complete Installation of Backfill Material Around New Culvert Structure
3. Complete Construction of Culvert Headwalls
4. Complete Installation of Culvert Railings
5. Begin Reconstruction of Roadway

January 5th, 2021 Update

The water main relocation work at Veterans Road is scheduled to start on Thursday evening at 9 pm. There will be intermittent service interruptions to nearby property owners while this work is occurring.
