Old Crompond Road Culvert Update

Old Crompond Road Closed

The Culvert located at 3483 Old Crompond Road behind McDonalds is closed for a minimum of 6 months. There is absolutely no thru traffic. The detours in both directions at Pinegrove Court and Hunterbrook Road both entail traveling on White Hill Road, which now has a posted speed limit of 10 mph due to narrow lanes and dangerous curves. I have driven both detours at various times of day and can say with confidence that staying on Rt. 202 east or west is exactly half the time as taking either detour and much safer.

We are currently putting out an RFP for engineering services to prepare documents for going out to bid for replacement. We are also coordinating with Con Ed for leak monitoring as there is an 8” high pressure gas main strapped to the culvert. We are coordinating with NYSDOT and NYSDEC as well.

An optimistic Timeline would be as below:

  • Engineering 1-2 months
  • Going out to Bid 1 month
  • Awarding bid 2 weeks
  • Starting construction 1 month assuming all materials are readily available.
  • Construction 1-2 months.
