Yorktown Police Dept Collecting Captain Kenneth Sgroi Act of Kindness Day Donations
February 16, 2024 - On January 2, 2023, we lost our brother and friend, Captain Kenny Sgroi. All of us at the Yorktown Police Department vowed to keep Kenny's memory alive in many different and meaningful ways. Captain Sgroi began his career with YPD on March 16, 2009. Upon our request, a Town Board resolution was passed in 2023, recognizing March 16th annually as "Captain Kenneth Sgroi Act of Kindness Day," in the Town of Yorktown. Beginning today, through March 15, 2024, we will begin accepting donations in Kenny's name at police headquarters for the following agencies:
United For The Troops (UFT), whose sole purpose is to "make life while deployed a little better for our brave men and women serving in the United States military by collecting food, toiletries and goods that the military does not provide for them." These packages are boxed and shipped by UFT volunteers and sent throughout the world to our troops. A photo for the UFT wish list is included in this post. #unitedforthetroops.org
Support Connection--Support Connection is a not for profit organization that provides emotional, social and educational support to women, their families and friends affected by breast, ovarian and gynecological cancer. They help sort out the many challenges a cancer diagnosis can bring, and enable women to find the answers and resources that are right for them. Gift cards and personal checks are accepted. Also, new or gently used clothing can be donated to Fantastic Finds in Chappaqua. Please call Support Connection at 914-962-6402 to make an appointment to drop off. #supportconnection.org
Our hope and expectation is to make our collective donation to United For The Troops and Support Connection on the morning of March 15, 2024, with family, friends and co-workers of Captain Sgroi present. When dropping off a donation, please just ring the intercom outside of HQ and let us know that you are here. If you would like to donate directly to either or both of these fine organizations, please tell them that you are doing so in the name of Captain Kenneth Sgroi.
Lastly, thank you for your consideration in helping us honor our good friend in such a meaningful way. Kenny was all about protecting and SERVING the community that he and his family called home. He would be proud of this Act of Kindness Day being named in his honor. "Great Cop, Better Man."
Respectfully,
Chief Noble
